Region D Championships @ UVA-Wise

I figured I would post this over here because you all know what it will probably turn into on the other side. What are everyones thoughts on the games next weekend. Better get there early to get a seat because it is going to be packed.

My thoughts:

Powell Valley vs Gate City - I think this is a much improved, more confident Gate City bunch than what Powell Valley saw a few weeks ago and I think this game will go down to the final minutes of the game to determine who will move on the the half state game.

John I Burton vs Clintwood - I think this one will be more of the same from game 1 between the two in week 9. Whether or not Robbins plays (who knows if he really got ejected or just pulled by the coaches) I think will make a huge impact on the game mainly from a special teams standpoint and a LB standpoint. If Clintwood can connect a few through the air downfield Clintwood will have a very good chance of winning the game. IMO Burton plays really well on the turf and unless they just flop next week should squeek out a win. Either way whomever wins I will be pulling for them to bring home the gold.

I am kinda hoping that Bath County pulls an upset against Rural Retreat next week so we or CLintwood whomever wins can layed a beat down on them. All of Norton has a bad taste in their mouth from the game 4 years ago with the onside kick with less than a minute to go and up by 30+ and then badmouthing Burton and the "classless" fans of the LPD after the win.

What does everyone think?

A seat? There should be plenty on the home side. I sat up there for most of the Clintwood/PV game last year and there were tons of open seats.

Just a shame we won't get to see Norton kick the everlovin' shitt out of Appy again this year.

I never sit anyway, we always park up on the hill, that was mainly what I meant, to get a good parking spot to sit and watch the game and also listen to the UT game on the radio, come up to my vehicle and I might let you listen to the game too.

I'll be there as long as I don't have to do the whole gathering thing with my family on Saturday.

Either that or go hunting. Depends on the weather.

I think both games will be tight. Until GC beats PV tho, they have that hex on them...and I think PV pulls it out. The JIB-CW game comes down to styles. If CW can slow the tempo, they have a great chance to win...on the other hand, if it's a fast paced track meet, JIB wins.

Both games Should be great

Clintwood does a good job on the Jet but had a tough time defending the passing game last time IMHO if Clintwood can take better care of the ball and find a way to contain the Norton Passing game they will make the game interesting

PV seems to have GCs number right now and as much as many PV fans want to cut on Phil for running the spread it is the offence that seems to give GC the most problems.

What brings a smile to my face is that 3 or the 4 teams playing Sat are LPD teams and the 4th was an LPD member last season
